Tea
Can I know the origin of the tea?
Of course! Our tea comes from Liubao Tea Town in Wuzhou, Guangxi, China
Do I need a traditional and complete tea set to make tea?
Not at all! Even in China, there are so many different ways to brew tea. You can make all my teas with just a teapot or simply throw tea leaves into a cup. That being said, I personally find great value in brewing tea with a purpose. Having the right tea set allows me to slow down and enjoy the process. If you’d like to try it yourself, I have a complete tea table starter kit on my website!
What are the characteristics of Liubao tea?
The tea’s soup is a rich, clear, amber-like red, with a mellow aroma and a rich, sweet, and betel nut-like flavor. This tea’s characteristics improve with age, and it is renowned for its four unique qualities: red, rich, mature, and mellow.
“Chen” refers to the aroma of aging, a process that makes aged tea even better with age.
“Pure” refers to the mellow, sweet, and refreshing flavor, with a rich, fragrant, and refreshing taste. High-quality Liubao tea also has a betel nut flavor.
“Strong” and “red” refer to the tea soup’s color. The tea leaves are dark brown, and the tea soup resembles amber, allowing for repeated brewing.
Some Liubao teas look gray and not so oily, as if covered with a layer of white frost. Is it moldy?
The “white frost” on Liubao tea is often related to its cellar aging process and the local climate. Even after the tea leaves are fermented and autoclaved, fermentation isn’t complete. During the aging process, the tea leaves continue to react with oxygen in the air, continuing to ferment. For example, aged Liubao tea sometimes develops a slightly grayish frost, the result of continued microbial activity and fermentation.
However, an overly white frost may be related to unusual bacterial flora and storage conditions. Whether the tea itself is problematic and whether it can still be consumed requires a case-by-case analysis.
What are the health benefits of Liubao tea?
(1) Anti-oxidation and anti-aging;
(2) Protect liver and gallbladder;
(3) Anti-cancer and cancer prevention;
(4) Lower blood sugar;
(5) Lose weight and lower blood lipids;
(6) Lower blood pressure and prevent cardiovascular disease.

Tea pet
What is a Tea Pet? What is its purpose?
A Tea Pet is a small artistic figurine placed on a tea tray to be “nourished” with tea. Often shaped like auspicious symbols or cute animals, its main purpose is to enhance the artistic atmosphere and enjoyment of a tea session. In Chinese tea culture, we use leftover tea or tea water to nurture it. Over time, the Tea Pet will develop a smooth, mellow patina and a deeper, antique color, becoming a unique feature of your personal tea space.
How should I "raise" or maintain my Tea Pet?
“Raising” your Tea Pet is simple and enjoyable! We recommend the following steps:
Warm-up: Rinse your new Tea Pet with warm water.
Nourish: During your tea sessions, evenly pour warm tea water over it or use a special brush to apply tea liquid.
Clean: Gently wipe it with a soft cloth periodically to maintain its luster and prevent tea stain buildup.
Rest: It doesn’t need to be watered daily. Letting it dry and oxidize naturally is also part of the process.
Patience is key. With time, it will develop a unique, warm gloss.
Why is the color change on my Tea Pet not very noticeable?
The color change of a Tea Pet is a slow, natural process that can take weeks or even months. The speed depends on the type of tea used (fermented teas like Pu’er or Black Tea work best), brewing frequency, and water quality. Please be patient and continue nourishing it with warm tea. You will gradually see its color become deeper and more lustrous. This anticipation is part of the charm and joy of raising a Tea Pet.
Can I use the Tea Pet as a regular decoration without pouring tea on it?
Absolutely! A Tea Pet is a beautiful decorative item on its own. Even if you don’t nourish it with tea frequently, its unique design and artistic charm can add an element of elegance and tranquility to your study, tea corner, or desk. How you interact with your Tea Pet is entirely up to your personal preference.
